Madrid On The Brink: S25 → S29

Produced By Brandon Jourdan, Marianne Maeckelbergh, and Carlos Delclós

This short film chronicles the events of the past week in Spain where
hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets to demand
the resignation of the government and an end to police brutality. Many
of the protests ended in clashes with the police. Since the stand off
began on September 25th , the images of police brutality have
travelled the world over, shocking and inspiring people across Europe
and leading to an international day of action on September 29th. This
film tells the story of why so many people took to the streets and
follows these events as they unfolded.

  1. The so-called ordinary people really understand the situation – that’s why the state are so scared and resort to violence – they have lost the debate so declare war on their populations.
The whole world support the brave Spanish people.
    Viva Espana!

  2. As in all crises the response of the suffering is jsutified but their reasons are as erroneous as they are varied. It is not capitalism that has destroyed them but corporatism. It is not the bankers but their central banks (ie Governments). It is not Spanish politicians who govern them it is Eurocrats in Brussels controlled by berlin and Paris. And the most immediate solution is to restore the Peso without which there is no hope of recovery.

These protests are the result of the corporatist fascist European Union and its grotesque currency. In Spain communists or fascists will benefit. Rarely in any crisis will people listen to democrats.

  3. I resent all interference in our affairs by the E.U. In particular having to pay 20% VAT when a huge drain upon our taxes is the £53 M paid every day of the year to the E.U. Only Britain and Germany are net payers to the E.U. so that,on top of our sacrifices in saving Europe from Nazi domination in WW2 we now subsidise those nations we made such huge sacrifices for. I will not vote for either of the 3 `old` parties who broke their promises to hold a referendum but will vote for UKip next election

  4. Well done the Spanish people, you have my complete support, the struggle is world wide, the greedy are robbing and enslaving us all,we have the power and can easily win, cant wait for us Brits to open our eyes and start to resist, the tiny minority trying to grab the worlds power and wealth.

  5. As an ex World Desk Editor at Reuters I find it disgusting that the BBC (nowadays more like an arm of the EU) has reported nothing of these events. When will our politicians act?

    • Never fgorget the role of the BBC in the face of Nazism and Fascism in the 1930s. Up to June 1939 they had a policy of promoting appeasement joining those who called Churchill a “war mionger”. The BBC attitude to the hollowing out of the free nations of Europe (re-founded out of the ashes of European Fascism and Nazism in 1945 and Soviet Communism in 1989) the destruction of their currencies, constitutions and parliaments is an exact reprise of the BBC’s 1930s behaviour. No wonder they will not report the revolution on the streets against the edifice which they helped to create.
